Poppies in soft sherbet colors — butter yellow, dusty rose, seafoam blue — leaning gently against a white sky that’s been worked into thousands of small scalloped ridges. 
 
A few buds are still deciding whether to open. The rest have already made up their minds.
 
Look a while and you’ll notice pale blue specks drifting through the air, as if the whole field is holding its breath.
